Precision Water Resources Engineering Selected for Great Salt Lake Basin Study Modeling Services

We are proud to announce our selection, alongside teaming partner Hydros Consulting Inc., to provide modeling services for the Great Salt Lake Basin Study — one of the most significant water resources planning efforts in the western United States.

Awarded by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's Provo Area Office in partnership with the Utah Division of Water Resources, this project tasks the Hydros-Precision team with developing the Great Salt Lake Basin River Planning Model (GSL-RPM) in RiverWare™. The model will simulate operations across the Bear River, Weber River, Utah Lake, Jordan River, and Great Salt Lake systems, serving as the primary decision-support tool for evaluating water management alternatives under both historical and projected future climate conditions — directly informing the Great Salt Lake Basin Integrated Plan (GSLBIP).

Precision brings exceptional institutional knowledge to this effort. Our team developed several of the existing RiverWare models that will form the GSL-RPM's foundation. Combined with our work on in the Truckee River and Colorado River basins, we are uniquely positioned to deliver a world-class planning model for this critically important basin.

The Great Salt Lake has experienced dramatic declines in recent decades, making this project not just a technical milestone but an urgent environmental and economic priority for Utah and the broader region. We are honored to contribute alongside our partners at Hydros Consulting, Reclamation, and UDWRe.
