FEMA Carson River 100 yr Flood Flow Study (2019)

Precision contracted with the Carson Water Subconservancy District to develop flood hydrology for a remapping effort of the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Mapping of the Carson River below Lahontan Dam.  Precision performed the hydrologic analysis for this reach of river that is determined primarily by operations of Lahontan Reservoir.  Adhering to FEMA guidance, Precision developed a method of determining a flood-frequency relationship for this section of the Carson River using the Truckee RiverWare® Planning Model to simulate Lahontan Reservoir operations under high flow conditions.  Precision first wrote a report detailing the proposed method and submitted it to FEMA.  Upon approval of the method, Precision performed the hydrologic analysis and submitted a report of the flood frequency curve determination.
